Rotterdam Fietspunt: Everything you need to know!

Fietspunt Rotterdam: How to get your removed bike back and the costs.

In Rotterdam, bicycles, mopeds and scooters that are annoyingly parked or look deserted are removed by the municipality and sent to the Fietspunt brought. This is a storage location where the municipality temporarily stores incorrectly parked or neglected two-wheelers. In this blog, we give you an overview of how to get your bike back and what the costs are if your bike ends up at the Bike Point.

Why is your bike being removed?

If your bike is in the wrong place, for example where it obstructs the passage, or looks deserted, the municipality can mark your bike as an “orphan bike” or “bicycle wreck”. These bicycles are removed by enforcers and stored at the Bicycle Point. The same goes for improperly parked mopeds and scooters.

How do you get your bike back?

If you suspect that your bike has been removed by the municipality, you can search the national database of lost and found items. Here you can use the characteristics of your bike or the date of disappearance to find out whether your bike has ended up at the Bike Point. Did you find your bike? Then you can pick it up at the Bike Point at the Copper Street 23 in Rotterdam. Remember to bring a valid ID, proof of ownership (such as a bike key or proof of purchase), and your debit card.

What does it cost?

The municipality charges an administrative fee for removing and storing your bike. The costs are:

  • €20 for bicycles parked incorrectly or annoyingly.
  • €50 for an orphan bike or a bicycle wreck.

If you are unable to pick up your bike yourself, you can also have it delivered to Thrift store Het Goed at Mariniersweg 255. You pay an additional €10 for this service.

Prevent your bike from being removed

The best way to prevent your bike from being brought to the Bike Point is to always lock your bike properly and park it in the appropriate places. Do you have a bike that hasn't been used in a while? Then make sure it doesn't look neglected and park it where it's not in the way.
